چکیده
channel is busy idle slots idle slots This paper analyzes the performance of IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol under a disaster scenario. The performance is measured in terms of the recovery time and the throughput of the protocol when a network disaster occurs. To make the problem amenable to analysis, some approximations are used, and a new technique to collapse a very large state space is introduced. The analytical results are found to agree with simulations. Data ACK

متن کاملA Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks
Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...
متن کاملEvaluation of Quality of Service Schemes for IEEE 802.11 Wireless LANs
This paper evaluates four mechanisms for providing service differentiation in IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs, the Point Coordinator Function (PCF) of IEEE 802.11, the Enhanced Distributed Coordinator Function (EDCF) of the proposed IEEE 802.11e extension to IEEE 802.11, Distributed Fair Scheduling (DFS), and Blackburst using the ns-2 simulator. The metrics used in the evaluation are throughput, medi...
متن کاملImplementation and Evaluation of IEEE 802.11e Wireless LAN in GloMoSim
IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is one of the most widely deployed wireless network technologies in the world today. The success of IEEE 802.11 mainly owes to its cost effectiveness, easy deployment and high data transmission rates. However, 802.11 MAC (Medium Access Control) algorithm is unable to support modern multimedia applications which require certain level of quality of s...
متن کاملAnalysis of Unsaturation Performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF with and without Slow Contention Window Decrease
Most of analytical models proposed so far for the IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF) focus on saturation performance. In this paper, we develop an analytic model for unsaturation performance evaluation of the IEEE 802.11 DCF with and without slow contention window decrease (SCWD). The model explicitly takes into account the carrier sensing mechanism and an additional backoff in...
